Covers Hyundai Equus 4.6L & 5.0L V8 (2009–2016) and Genesis sedan V8 models with the Tau engine. Unlike more common Hyundai/Kia Kefico or SIM2K jobs, these Bosch ME17.9.1 units need bench boot-mode access for proper clone work and true firmware-level immobilizer patching.

Immobilizer Off — $199
When the original ECU is dead or immo data can't be recovered, we patch the ME17.9.1 firmware to skip SMARTRA transponder validation. The engine starts without the immobilizer handshake. Used for legitimate swaps, failed SMARTRA, and off-road applications.
VIN Programming — $199
Need the VIN updated on a replacement or donor ECU? We write the correct VIN directly into the ME17.9.1 flash memory via bench access — no dealer scan tool or online session required. Common after engine swaps, salvage rebuilds, or when a used ECU carries the wrong VIN.
How Equus ME17.9.1 differs from other immo jobs
BMW uses ISN (Individual Serial Number) stored in the DME and CAS/FEM. Most BMW jobs are alignment or clone workflows around ISN sync rather than SMARTRA bypass.
Equus ME17.9.1 uses SMARTRA + PIN-based pairing inside a Bosch MED17-family ECU. Immo off requires patching the Bosch firmware directly via bench boot mode, not just key relearn or basic EEPROM sync.
Other Hyundai/Kia ECUs are often Kefico, MG7.9.8, or SIM2K-based, which follow different memory layouts and immobilizer logic. The Tau V8 ME17.9.1 is the oddball — more Bosch-style, more bench work, and more donor-clone friendly.
